The Lisle Corporation was founded in 1903 in Clarinda, Iowa, as a privately owned company. Today it is led by third, fourth and fifth generation family members. Lisle started out making horse-powered water well drilling machines. To combat the seasonality of the well drilling business, the company branched out and began to develop, design, and manufacture cream separators, washing machines, and push-type reel lawn mowers.
In the mid-20s, the corporation entered the automotive aftermarket with its master ignition vibrator for Ford Model T vehicles. The first Lisle tool was a valve refacer that fast became a repair shop must since valves were reground every 20,000 miles at that time.
