In 1984 the distinctive orange ‘Technic' was the first pocket portable soldering iron introduced to market, and servicemen and technicians all over the world were suddenly given the freedom to be able to solder joints in the field, alleviated by the need to plug in to electrical outlets. Following the original innovation of the ‘Technic', Portasol rapidly built on this success and introduced the Professional iron, adding accessories such as hot blow and hot knife tips, and producing the first Heat tool kit.
