Stikit™ 8" Soft PSA Back-Up Pad by 3M®. Engineered for sanding large areas of paint down to metal with coarse grade abrasives, 8" 3M™ Stikit™ Soft Abrasive Disc Back-up Pad adds cushion and conformability to 3M™ Stikit™ sanding discs. Ideal for auto and marine body sanding applications, the pad's soft density foam with a 45° tapered edge closely conforms to contours and curves to deliver a uniform finish and minimize rework.
Extra Cushion for Precision Sanding.
The 3M™ Stikit™ Soft Abrasive Disc Back-up Pad achieves an efficient medium between cut rate and conformability. When removing paint from large areas requiring precision across contours and curves, obtaining uniform results can be a challenge. Designed for use with a coarse-grade abrasive sanding disc, this high-quality back-up pad has an inch of soft foam to ensure a soft, fine scratch, while the tapered edge flexes for continual contact with the workpiece. Moreover, the foam reduces vibration common with large rotary sanders, increasing the clarity of the finish and improving operator comfort. These features help produce an extremely smooth, even foundation across the sanding area to make the repair process easier.
About the 3M™ Stikit™ Attachment System.
The vinyl face of the pad securely holds a pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) disc. The 3M™ Stikit™ system was designed for convenient disc changes between grades or applications. 3M Stikit™ discs come ready to use with a high-quality PSA coating on the backside so that attaching them to the disc pad is as simple as pressing on a sticker, yet they remove cleanly from a Stikit™ back-up pad. Stikit™ discs tend to provide a more aggressive cut than do 3M™ Hookit™ products.
Using Your Back-Up Pad.
Use this soft back-up pad with a fine grade 8" diameter PSA abrasive disc on a slow speed polisher or grinder. The maximum RPM for this pad is 3000, a desirable speed for generating smooth, controlled finishing results.
