Brazing Rods
Brazing is a soldering technique where a non-ferrous alloy is melted and used to join different metallic workpieces. The heat required for liquefying the alloy is reached using various ways such as a gas torch or induction, while the bond can be obtained in furnaces or by immersion, among other methods. The heating technique determines the choice of alloy. Torch brazing is the most used technique, as it is versatile and covers the most frequent applications. Like in other welding operations, the torch can be fueled by various gases including acetylene, propane, or hydrogen, blended with oxygen or air to produce the flame.
For getting optimal results, the torch must produce a consistent intense flame. For this reason, heavy-duty models are preferred. Besides the torch, this type of brazing requires specialized filler rods and flux to treat the metal surfaces. Typical alloys used for the rods are bronze, copper-phosphorous, aluminum, aluminum-zinc, and manganese-bronze. Many filler rods come with flux to ease the process. Typically, the flux melts before the alloy and treats the metal automatically. We offer a wide selection of quality brazing rods made by reputable manufacturers with a long experience in the welding industry.
