The need to create a new threaded connection or restore the old one may come quite unexpectedly. For instance, you may need to repair a rusty thread in the engine or exhaust system, or join some parts of other machinery. In each case, before making a thread, you should understand two main thread types and properly select the taps depending on whether you work with a blind or through hole. There are UNF and UNC types; the former refers to Unified National Fine thread, while the latter implies Unified National Coarse thread that has a larger pitch and is commonly considered stronger and better for additional sealing.

Many of our kits also include a drill featuring a special diameter necessary to make a proper hole. A kit may consist of just one drill and a corresponding tap, or you get several drills and taps allowing for making different threaded openings. Some kits even offer combined drill/tap bits to create a hole and cut a thread at the same time, but they feature certain limitations in terms of material thickness and can be unsuitable for blind holes.
