Groovers

Groovers

Concrete is a popular construction material known for its compression resistance, strength, and durability. However, concrete has poor or no elasticity and scarce resistance to bending. On the contrary, it expands or shrinks following the temperature fluctuations. All these features and actions result in random cracking on concrete surfaces. Hence, concrete works entail the use of joints to minimize the cracks. Depending on the design, professionals use expansion, contraction, or construction joints to control fissures in slabs, floors, and sidewalks. However, these techniques require adequate planning, specific skills, and proper tools. Typically, the joints are obtained using hand tools called groovers.

Substantially, a groover consists of a handle and a metal blade with a V-shaped protrusion to cut concrete. It is crucial to use these tools at the right stage of the curing process, when concrete has already got consistency but before it gets too hard. Common materials include ordinary or stainless steel, bronze, and aluminum. Handles can be made of wood or plastic compounds. Different designs are also available. For example, there are edger/groover combos or blades that can be attached to edgers. On our virtual shelves, we offer a broad selection of first-rate groovers designed and made to perfection by leading companies in the industry.
