The Torx screw standard is one of the most popular types widely used in automobiles, home appliances, and other equipment. The star-shaped design allows you to apply rather high torque without damaging a fastener, however, there are a couple of nuances about Torx which are worth your attention. First, there are two kinds, ordinary and security Torx. The latter is more common for various home appliances; such fasteners are unsuitable for traditional Torx keys or bits and require their own tools, although they fit the ordinary Torx bolts and screws.
Another nuance is about the shape and length of the needed key. In some situations, it has to be long enough; in others, you may need to insert a short tool because of the lack of space. Actually, in both of these situations, you can do with an L-shaped key or a double-tip T-handle tool, however, the latter needs somewhat more space because of the handle. Some other factors to pay attention to include a pivoting head, magnetic tip, and ball end; the last one can be quite helpful when an obstacle prevents you from inserting the tool at the right angle. In this section of our catalog, you can choose from L-shaped Torx keys available in numerous types and sizes.
