Set Screws

Set Screws

A set screw is a widespread type of fastener commonly utilized as a detent, to hold an outer part of a mechanism with the help of its inner part. Also known as grub or blind screws, these fasteners usually have no head and normally feature hex, Torx, or other type of internal-wrenching drive. Such a design provides flush installation, which is a crucial advantage in many assemblies and furniture. This type of screw is normally used in door handles, surfboard fins, gears and pulleys, and other products requiring a flat surface in the fastener's place.

Depending on the application, set screws also differ by thread, diameter, length, tip type, and material. To resist corrosion, many of them are made of stainless steel or have a black oxide coating. As for tip designs, they include flat, ball, domed, cone, knurled, and some other kinds meant to improve grip, increase or reduce the stress on the contact point, etc. On our digital shelves, you can find a wide range of set screws available in plenty of SAE and metric sizes and different thread standards, yet you can choose from several tip types and material classes.
