Split-Lock Washers
Widely used with bolts or nuts in lots of threaded connections, metal washers are meant to distribute the load exerted on the connected parts more evenly. In most cases, it's needed to protect the joined surfaces from damage, as a washer helps to absorb compression force when the fasteners are tightened. However, there is a special type known as split or lock washers, which is also meant to protect the fasteners from loosening caused by vibration or other factors. When tightened with sufficient torque, a lock washer creates some tension that helps to secure the bolt or nut and prevent its spontaneous rotation.
In order for the washer to work this way, it's never made flat and has a semi-coiled, split design. In our online store, you will find a vast array of split-lock washers. They are available in numerous SAE and metric sizes, yet you can choose from different materials and grades. Our washers are made from ordinary or stainless steel, and for additional corrosion protection, many steel washers are coated with zinc. Besides, some of them have the second layer of coating known as yellow chromate.
