Screws, bolts, and studs might seem insignificant in comparison with bigger parts, yet they have an important role to play, as they help keep the entire structure together. Whatever the construction, you have to pay some attention to these tiny components. Should any of them get broken, it is advisable to replace them. Still, before you can install a new component, you have to remove the faulty one. This is when a special extractor will come in handy. The kind of tool you need depends on the type of damage. If there is enough of the stud protruding from the surface, a cam- or roller-type tool will do well, but should the fastener be broken too close to the surface or inside the hole, you might need to use a flute screw extractor. Also, you have to pay attention to the size of the stud that needs removing and choose the extractor made specifically for these dimensions.
