Brazing & Soldering Torches

Brazing and soldering are widespread techniques used for joining metallic workpieces. Broadly speaking, they are similar, but brazing requires higher temperatures to obtain strong joints. Typically, non-ferrous alloys are used as fillers, and the surfaces to be bonded are fluxed for good results. Depending on the application, different brazing and soldering techniques are utilized. In most cases, a torch is used to reach the temperature required to melt the filler. Overall, the type of gas and the alloy's nature determine the final result, but, compared to soldering, brazing requires heavy-duty torches.

Fuel gases include propylene, propane, and MAPP, typically mixed with oxygen or air to burn. Small tanks are used for domestic or refined soldering jobs, such as plumbing repairs or jewelry works. These tiny torches are designed for attaching directly to the cylinder. Otherwise, the most frequent scheme is a typical handle/tip with separate hoses for the oxygen and gas cylinders. Depending on the application, the tips can have various shapes and inner designs.
