Prick Punches

Available in numerous types, punches allow you to make holes, leave marks, remove and install pins, align holes, shape some materials, and do many other jobs. However, these tools have to be selected properly. Sometimes, they look quite similar but actually are of different kinds; center and prick punches are a shining example. The former are normally used to create a small dimple on the metal surface in order for the bit to retain the needed position when you start to drill. A dimple should have a certain width, so the tip of a center punch usually has a 90-degree angle.

As for prick punches, their tip angles are sharper; many tools feature 60 degrees or even less. It allows you to make smaller or deeper dimples or scribe lines with higher precision; these marks are commonly used for other measurements or markings, scribing circumferences with a divider, etc. Sometimes, a thinner prick punch is used to mark a point before making a larger dimple with a center punch. A wide range of prick punches is available on our virtual shelves. Sourced from reputable brands, they are meant to provide high accuracy and reliable performance for a long while.
